We are women, Hear us roar

We are women, Hear us roar

Dear you,

It's International Women's Day! I am so thankful for all the strong beautiful women in my life and I am proud to be a woman! Being a woman has it's own beauty in itself. It is nothing to hide, our womanhood makes us who we are. So in this blog post I want to put a few quotes by women who have lead by example and paved a way for the rest of us. And also to talk a little about what women empowerment is, what it means to me, and why I feel it's important to be shared. So let's start with the quotes, cause who doesn't love a good quote, amirite?

There are so many great quotes out there but those are just a few that have really made an impact on my life and on my way of thinking.

Now let's get to the good stuff. hehe

Women empowerment. What is it? What does it mean? Based off of the words in the phrase itself, I think we can safely say that it means to empower women. Empower meaning "to enable; authority or power given to someone; the process of becoming stronger and more confident." (that's direct from dictionary.com)

Now why is it so important? Well I think that's more of an opinion-based question, so I'm going to go ahead and give you mine. Women empowerment is important to me because as a woman it's easy to feel down about myself. To feel like I'm incapable of doing things because I am a woman. And it's easy to compare myself to other women and their lives. The thing about women empowerment is that it's not just about empowering ourselves, it's about empowering other women too. Women empowerment is about encouraging and being there for each other. It's about knowing and believing that we do matters, we do have worth, and we do have a voice.

Wanting to empower women (or be a feminist) doesn't mean that you hate men. Women have qualities and attributes that men don't have and vice versa. And guess what? That's not a bad thing! God created us as two separate, different beings for a reason. There are traits that women have that men don't have and traits that men have that women don't. That's why He created us to become one (in marriage). So there are going to be things in life that I know a man can do better, or more efficiently, than I can. And vice versa for women to men. That in no way decreases our value or our worth. Our worth is not found or defined in what we can or cannot do, it's found in God and His love for us. And He says that we are worthy and capable of more than we can ask or even imagine.

And as women it's important to support each other, to encourage each other. You're not the only one going through whatever you're going through, or feeling the emotions you're feeling. We all go through things in life. We're able to take those things and use them to help someone else. Isn't that so great?! We don't have to do this alone.

Speak up, speak out, use your voice. Don't be afraid to ask for help and don't be afraid to help someone else. You are strong. You are beautiful. You are powerful. You are loved. Be confident in who you are and who God created you to be!

Love Vanessa

I'd love to hear what you think about women empowerment and how you feel about it (whether man or woman, whatever your view is). Or how women, or a woman, has empowered you in life. Feel free to leave a comment in the comments section below.

P.S.S. (not sure if that's how that works but I think you get it lol)

The women in the second and fourth rows of the collage header picture for this blog are all family and friends (that are women of course) that have empowered me on my journey through life. And if you all (that are pictured) are reading this, know that you have had a great impact on my life and on the young woman I am today. I love you all deeply and I hope I have, or can, encourage and empower you the way you have to me.

(there are so many more but I couldn't fit everybody haha)

Also sorry I had to steal some of your pictures from facebook lol!
